Vodafone completes Ghana Telecom purchase

Vodafone has confirmed its purchase of a 70 oer cent stakein Ghana Telecom for $900 million (£483m) on a debt-free, cash-free basis.

The Ghanaian government, which ratified the deal last week, retains a 30 per cent stake in the network operator. Ghana Telecom had 1.4 million mobile customers as of March 31, 2008, equivalent to 17 per cent of the Ghanaian market.
